Sabian takes a bow

This is a bit of a different blip for me but I couldn't resist. There is a bit of a fracas going on at the moment caused by the Council giving the chop to 13 fig trees in Laman Street. They are Hills Figs (Ficus Microcarpa var Hillii) and said to be 80 years old. A movement SoF (Save our Figs) had a camp out in Civic Park last night to meet the axe welding workmen who were to do the dirty deed this morning. Needless to say, the Mayor has stepped in and put a hold on things. There has been legal actions, mediations, mayhem at Council meetings and now a demonstration. Sabian the Rooster apparently is a regular demonstrator. He was wearing a bib which said I love the Fig. One of the figs can be seen in the background. The sign obscured said Independent Assessment. SoF want another assessment to tell them the trees are rotten (or not).
