AMIGAS
Amigas is the name of friend C (Islandcat) and my double rowing shell. We bought it in 2004 so H and I didn't have to bring our double up here from Seattle every summer. Another neighbor also could row it. But last year she was rowed less than 10 days I think and this year, due to everyone's schedules, weather and other factors, she has not been out! Until today. When C and I (a little nervously, my wrist did OK) took her around the bay before putting her away in the boathouse. It's time to rethink whether we need this this lovely, skinny, tippy boat, since it is some trouble to maintain and store etc. And if one hits a huge wake here and flips, this water is COLD! (In Lake Union at least the water won't kill you....) So I just had to blip her (H took the photo on his way to the boathouse with P, the wax, tools to derig, and cover etc. I liked this one with the refections....) since this may be her last row here before she gets donated to someone who will use her more. A bit sad. But we'll have to wait and see what happens.... We still have a 4 person shell in the boathouse which is more stable and great fun- just takes some planning....our lives do change.....
