Why the long face?

I am not a horsey person in the slightest and yet this is the second photo of horses that I have uploaded in less than 100 blips. They make such good models though with their long sculptured faces, dark shiny eyes and flowing hair! He was a right poser this one too. Jean had been trying to persuade him to come over by holding out a crab apple she had picked earlier for the very purpose of feeding it to any horse we might see later in the day. He wasn't keen though and was hanging well back from the fenceline, but when I got my camera out of the car and turned around with it in my hand, he immediately started heading right over in my direction, and stopped only when he could physically get no closer to me. He got his apple from Jean and crunched it as I took some pictures. The level of the field was higher than that of the road so I was slightly beneath him, enabling me to get shots of his head with nothing in the background . I really liked the way this his brown and white face contrasted with the grey of the clouds behind.
