The Quarry

This is an abandoned slate quarry in my brother's village in Snowdonia. It's one of our favourite places to walk (especially on a Bank Holiday weekend!!) The whole mountain side is strewn with slate from huge slabs to tiny shards. I love all the ferns, mosses, lichens, flowers and trees that have managed to find ways to grow and thrive in such an inhospitable environment.
Another great day today with dam building in our new wellies, playing in the park and climbing in the quarry - a proper Welsh holiday!!
