Western Isles

Cold and windy today (more like late Autumn) and haven't left the house since getting home from church so a blip from indoors.

Many years ago we had a cycling holiday on the southern Western Isles.
I had previously done an embroidery based on a holiday and decided to use a technique I was working on to portray some of the images.
From top left - west coast of S Uist, hills of S Uist, lochs & hills of N UIst, machair N Uist, bluebells, Barra airport and, in the centre, near Lochboisdale.

For any interested in the technique: plain calico coated with diluted PVA glue, painted with silk paints and highlights stitched freehand using standard cotton embroidery threads. Then mounted and framed by Mr Rat.
