Grasmere Sports Senior Guides Race

There was a record number of entries, 152, for today's Senior Guides Race at Grasmere!

It had been dry all day, but there was a downpour just as the race started at 4.10pm!

It is a really steep climb from Grasmere up to the top of the fell. The best runners get to the top in about 10 mins, and down in about 3 mins at breakneck speed! It really is a sight to be seen! Today's winner was Morgan Donnelly.

There are Guides Races for the Under 9s, Under 12s, Under 14s and Under 17s too. And it's not just the men that take part, there are lots of lassies and women too!

In the arena there were sprint races, hound trails, dog shows, tug of war, para gliding, wrestling, historic cars and mountain bike aerial displays! A blippers delight!
