Red Bull Flugtag in Oslo

Oslo's first Red Bull Flugtag, an event in which demented extroverts attempt to fly homemade contraptions off a tall runway into the harbour. It's like the old Birdman events I remember from my childhood in New Zealand, although with a bit more showbiz. It was a great venue for it at Bjørvika, with a huge audience looking on from the roof of Oslo's Opera House - although after some good weather at the start the wind really picked up, resulting in one entrant going sideways off the ramp (top right). It was a lot of fun, and the flimsy "flying" machines all wound up on the scrapheap (bottom right).
