Zenkov Cathedral

We walked here this morning for a pre-lunch time drink and also found a shop that sold ice pops with English wording on!.... Result!

There are alot of people sat all round begging of all ages which is really sad to see, even more so when you see the young mums sat with there babies, In Kazakhstan there is no social welfare system in place! Harley likes to give them money and even tho 100 tenge isn't much in our money it's about 50p they are so grateful.

Zenkov Cathedral is surrounded by Panfilov Park,
The Park was named after the heroes of World War II. The Cathedral is one of the few tzarist-era buildings to survive the 1911 earthquake, despite the fact it is built entirely of wood and constructed without nails. It is also one of the eight most unique wooden buildings in the world. After the revolution it was used as historical museum, cultural center, and just in 1990 again it was given a status of a Russian Orthodox cathedral.
