Carnival girls

Notting Hill Carnival starts today, but sadly my foot isn't well enough for me to join in. Where I live is just off the main route, so I still get to see some amazing costumes.

I couldn't decide whether this picture should be my piture of the day, however. Not only because of the girl's attitude but also because of the old West Indian lady in the background who had obviously been to the shops and was treating the day just like any other.

I imagined her walking up to my model, wagging her finger and saying "what you wearin'... put some clothes on girl!"

Shops are boarded up, and in my brief tour of the area did encounter some men who looked like they were out for trouble (I didn't photograph them).

I sincerely wish everything goes well this year as it's such an amazing cultural event.
