When the good guys win.........
As the netball tournament gets towards the business end of the week the games get tighter and there's more at stake. This year, the top 5 teams in the South Island will join 11 teams from the North Island to compete at the Secondary Schools Nationals in October.
In all the years I've worked at school and been involved in netball we have never had a team reach these lofty heights. Last year we missed out by just one placing which was in effect, because of just 1 goal :(
The girls have been pretty keen to break that record so this end of the tournament is what really matters.
Today's first key match was first thing in the morning and, it being a teacher only day, G the DP told staff that early morning 'staff briefing' was to be held at the courts to support the girls! How wonderful to see so many staff there :) The game was a nail-biter which went right down to the wire. The final whistle blew with the scores being level but with a penalty shot in our favour still to be taken............
M stepped up and nailed it .....and the crowd went wild............
Awesome game and great result. One more win will secure a place at Nationals. A loss in the first game tomorrow will mean everthing rests on their last game.........
Good stuff!
