The Brain Drain Club

Ours is a demanding program. Students get tired and frustrated. At the same time, they really want to explore all the fun parts of design. Enter The Brain Drain Discussion and Writing Club. We meet, and magic happens. We talk, we write, we laugh. Some of our topics are heavy duty: creativity, design process, inspiration, or multidisciplinary collaboration. Some are much lighter: "something weird", or "the best meal I've ever had".

I took the photograph above this morning, during our first session this semester. A small group this time; sometimes they are larger. I never know who will show up. The first thing we pondered was "how is a book like a tomato". Then we pondered our collective hobbies: beer brewing, cooking, photography, knitting, making soap, making hammocks, playing music, making sushi, brewing tea. All processes. What are the common threads?
