Brooklands

Peaceful and private, this settlement on the coast is now famous as it was so destroyed by the earthquakes that it is classified "red zone" in parts, which means that the land is considered too damaged for the housing to continue to exist. We have friends who live in this area and have always loved its proximity to the sea and the beautiful nature of the estuary environment, and they will be devastated to know that they cant continue to live there. Over time, with continuing lack of services like sewage and water and power they are becoming realistic about its long term potential so are looking elsewhere for something new. Tough times.
