Home made bike travel case

Packing.

I'm taking part in the mountainbike event Birkebeinerrittet in Norway on Saturday. When I registered for the race I knew that I will need a bag or a case to safely hold my bike when I travel by plane. But those bike travel bags are extremely expensive and I don't expect to use it very often. Refusing to pay over 300 euros for the bag I would have liked, I decided to build my own. I went an bought plywood, aluminium profile, paint, fasteners, cornerpieces and joined everything together with hundreds of rivets.
In the end I didn't save much. All the parts cost more than 200 euros and I'm sure I put more than 10 hours of work into it. Oh well...

My blip shows the result. A home made bike travel case with bag inside just before leaving for Norway. It did fit into my small car and it has arrived safely with me to Oslo. Now some food and sleep and tomorrow cycling in the rain. :)
