Mill Pond

Reflections on the old mill pond and part of the original mechanism used to govern the flow of water to Pagefiled Mill. The mill was built in 1867, to designs by George Woodhouse for John Rylands, one of the area's largest cotton manufacturers. The Grade II listed building was part of Wigan and Leigh college until 2008 when it was bought by a property development company. A recent suspicious fire in June has now cast doubt on its future.
