No "trouble at t'mill" today.

Hounslow Gunpowder Mills produced, unsuprisingly, gunpowder from 1766 to 1926. They were "incorporating mills", mixing sulpher, saltpetre & charcoal, & over 300 men, women & children were employed there at their peak.
It was dangerous work, at least 55 explosions occurred there.
The shot tower (for making lead gunshot) was built in 1823, & is the only surviving building at the mill site.
Today the tower serves as a visitor centre for a nature reserve in Crane Park. The Crane river provides a valuable habitat for water voles, woodpeckers, kingfishers & dragonflies.
I like that a place formerly associated with the production of the means of destruction is now an important conservation site.
