The Mistress

This was my post-DPW view today. My friend Tom is throwing some extra green my way for re-seaming and repainting his old Bristol skiff, and I'm quickly learning why wooden boats are a labor of love. Although tapping cotton and compound in between the boards is much more tactile than fiberglass work, it's hell on the arms, and I'd be hard pressed to ever own an organic vessel like this one. Still, it's amazing to run your hand along the confluence of so many textures. This old girl has character, and she sure will look nice out in Marion harbor...
