HP bypass

HP bypass of unit EC 3.
This piece of equipment is installed in the high pressure steampipe coming out of the boiler. When the unit is starting up, this valve is open when the steamturbine is not yet in operation. The steam, produced by the boiler has to be in the right condition (pressure and temperature) before it can be send to the turbine.
So it is bypassed and the steam is going to the reheater and from there to the Medium pressure bypass, bypassing the mediumpressure turbine and via the low pressure bypass the steam is going to the condenser.
Each bypass plays its role during start-up.
This bypass is modificated; it's air operated; before it was operated by hydraulics, but when the valves became defective, it was decided to change the way it was operated too. We had a fire a couple of years ago when hydraulic oil from the bypass leaked onto the hot outlet of the gasturbine. The bypass is located right above the gasturbine in the top of the boilerroom.
