My brother moved to New York decades ago. On his occasional visits back to the UK the first thing he would do was find a cafe and get a sausage roll. They're not very nice and he didn't even like them, but they were his unfulfilled desire in the States.
This being Kensal Rise(ing) in London, we have a new organic, eye-wateringly-expensive butcher recently opened. They do their own sausage rolls but with actual, identifiable ingredients and at £2 a pop, they have elevated the humble sausage roll to a new status.
