What can go wrong, will go wrong

The silver car is my beloved Toyota Camry Hybrid. It is the perfect car, except in the snow (the traction control does more harm than good). On this day, the car was due at the dealer at 8am for its 20,000 mile service. At 7:45am, I approached the car, pressed the unlock button on the key & nothing happened. I got into the car and pressed the start button & nothing happened. I got out of the car to call the dealer and saw that the right front passenger tire was flat.

I dragged poor James out of bed to help. In the rain, he put on the spare tire and found a screw in the tire he removed. Then we tried to jump my regular battery (which is in the trunk) from his car battery. Nothing.

So in the end, we had to call a tow truck, which took its time to arrive. The car and I arrived at the dealer at 11:15am. Apparently the regular 12 V battery was faulty. Toyota paid for the tow and replaced the battery for free. They tuned up the car and patched the tire.

Finally at 1pm, I arrived at the office. About a month ago, I got a mobile broadband modem for my computer. It was probably one of the best investments I have made for my business as I was able to be a productive entrepreneur while awaiting word on my powerless vehicle.

I still love the car. It is comfy and gets great mileage. So I forgive it for failing me this morning.
