In the meadow

Today Jack and I joined our friends at the nature center for a little picnic and some trail walking!

One of my favorite spots is a beautiful meadow that is a bit of a surprise. You walk in the thick woods, shadowed by the thick trees, but then all of a sudden, the trail opens up into this meadow filled with pretty pink, purple and yellow wildflowers and birdhouses in between it all. Today was a perfect summer day, blue skies and puffy white clouds and a 'just right' temperature.

Tonight, we came home and had a little cookout on the deck then went down to the local state park and went for a walk in the fields there. We like to see if we can find golf balls, left behind by people using the field for practice! We managed to find three, and Jack was pretty happy about that!!

We topped the night off with some sparklers and now it's bedtime for Jack.

Only a week more of summer vacation before school starts....we have to make it last!!
