Brocante
Today was one of those days that you wonder what happened to the time. The morning went by quickly after a visit to the market in Merignac. It's not what it used to be, getting smaller and slightly tackier each time - no comparison to the Revel market a week ago. But then, there isn't a huge Carrefour hypermarket a few hundred metres away like in Merignac is there?
From there we drove to a brocante and had a good nose around. L found some books (more books!) and I bought a few plates that caught my fancy. Emma came away with a lovely little French doll.
In the afternoon, there was some discussion (as usual) about which beach to descend upon. After yesterday's Medusa invasion at Grand Crohot, some decided to stay at home while us Brits plus Violaine and Etienne drove to Ares which is in the Arcachon Basin. An idealic spot, with pine trees down to the beach - not many people there, compared with the tube train proportions at G. Crohot. Lovely afternoon.
This pic is a typical inner Bordeaux street (but not quite the poshe part). I liked this shot as it caught the woman dashing to pick up her dry cleaning or something and the street behind her decays into a DoF blur behind her. The stone colours are so Bordeaux - and very similar to Bath or Bristol in the UK.
