Late last night my sister gave birth to a baby girl. Niamh (pronounced Neve) Rosa was born at a whopping 9lbs 13oz.
This is a picture of me holding my niece for the first time and I completely fell in love with her already!
I have had the most wonderful weekend. Although the original plan was to see Dolly Parton instead I got to be part of the weekend my sister and her husband had their little girl.
I also had some amazing bonding time with my nephew who (and yes, I know I am biased) is one of the sweetest little boys I have ever met. Last night as I tried to get him off to sleep he stroked my face trying to convince me in a soft voice why maybe he shouldn't need to go to bed....LOL At 2 and he already knows how to work the room! He will be a brilliant big brother.
I'd like the thing that the laughs we had as my sister started her labour in while we all sat in their room timing the contractions means Niamh will be as jolly a child as Aidan is.
*warning - soppy moment coming up*
As horrible as the world seems on news and last week with the riots etc when I look at the laughter and joy that was around the rooms yesterday and today and see what a great job my sister and her husband are doing with their children I regain some faith in the human race - perhaps we are not all doomed :)
Tonight I am going to sleep one happy woman.
(although that will change in the am when I wake at 6 and realise it's Monday and I need to get to work but I will be doing so with a smile on my face).
