Spent the weekend at Spurn Point. One of my favourite places. Decided to take the bikes as having just passed my test - it has always been a dream to ride on the lovely country roads out here :-) Stayed at Westmere Farm B&B which we would highly recommend. The landlady packed us up with sandwiches and home made chocolate cake and supplied us with suncream and we set off on the 10 mile walk around the point.
It always amazes me how quiet the beach is here - on a scorching day in August. The scenery was stunning and we were spoilt for blip opportunities! What I so love about this place is the peace and tranquility - and that it seems timeless. No-one needs technology or money to occupy their time. Children paddling in the sea, making sandcastles, collecting shells and pebbles, playing cricket on the sand - and searching for them in the wildflowers having heard their chirping! Fishermen sat staring into the waves waiting for a bite. A chap with his metal detector searching for treasure. Sunbathers catching the rays. Walkers, bird watchers and photographers maximising their hobbies in sunshine and stunning scenery. Not an amusement arcade, fairground ride or burger van in sight. This is how days at the seaside should be.
