The First Festival of Pacific Arts.

The Festival of Pacific Arts was created as a way for the indigenous peoples of the Pacific to assert and revitalize their cultural identity through the artistic expression of history and traditions.

The first festival took place in Suva, Fiji from May 6-20th in 1972. Since then it has been held every 4 years and the 12th festival will take place in 2012 in Honiara, Solomon Islands.

This young lady was a member of a dance troop from the Gilbert and Ellice Islands.
