End2End 2011 Day 1
4th event of the year started today, End2End 2011 Banger Rally.
Again, small event because of the economy. This is a straight forward run from Land's End to John O'Groats. It's not the most amazing trip to ever do, but you do drive some pretty countryside (yes the UK is pretty when you look for it), but it's one of those journeys in life you ought to do, just once, just to say you've done it.
Our route is not direct and adds another 400-500 miles to the straight line route that most people take. We're not in any hurry either.
Ok, I'm writing this after the event - and all I can say is that there are 19 people in this shot, and there isn't a person I wouldn't want to see again. They were a brilliant group to take out on an adventure and I loved every minute of the following 5 days.
If you look at this picture, it's quite sad in hindsight. These great people will never come together in this group again after this event. This was one of the few events (maybe the only event) where everyone came together every single evening. There were no disparate groups or anything, proper cohesion for once and it was excellent to be a part of.
We've always said that the success of the event comes down to the people on it and although this event may have been small, but it more than made up for it with spirit. (And dodgy homemade wine ;) )
