Hedgehog

Was finishing work for the night and met this wee fellow wandering in the garage. I got such a fright as I just saw something skuttling across the floor and thought it was a mouse!! Used to see loads of them up here, but there has been a program in Uist for the past 8 years or so to trap them and move them to the mainland as they have been blamed for eating the eggs of wading birds in particular. Now a new report has just come out which says (I think) that this has resulted in no upturn in the population of the said wading birds and that farming practices and seagulls should take their fair share of the blame.
