'The Block' Arrives
Britains new Queen Elizabeth Class aircraftcarrier, 'HMS Queen Elizabeth' is expected to enter service in 2020'. The centre section was built at Govan on the Clyde and Last Tuesday, this section, known as 'The Block', left the clyde to be transported round Scotland to Rosyth on the Forth where it will be joined to other sections built in other shipyards.
It was towed round the north of Scotland by the anchor handling tug supply vessel (AHTS) 'ERACLEA' (Owned by Augustea S.p.A.). Once it neared the Forth Bridges, the Ocean-going tug handed over to the three local tugs; 'Fidra', 'Oxcar' and 'Seal Carr'. Here they are seen guiding their charge under the Forth Railway Bridge.
