First day of term

We have been here for years, but I still can't get my head around why schools in Scotland begin the new academic year in the middle of August. In the run up to the new term, we had the usual round of new shoes and uniform. In Kitty's case this meant a couple of tops from New Look and a pair of Converse as she doesn't have a school uniform.
