My Smile Is Nocturnal

As today turns into yesterday
and tomorrow becomes today
I'm thinking about
how all the crap crowds in
because the mind
allows it to

but then goes away again
because the mind tells it to.

Ha ha. Mad. Insane.

You don't have to be insane
to live here
but it helps.

Further down the dark road
a dog yelps

but, because life is simple,
my cat purrs

and I smile my nocturnal smile.
