' ere, whats your Ragwort taste like?

I spotted these last night when me and Mags werehaving a walk. After I took her out this morning, I went back with the Nikon and a tripod. I couldn't see the little devils at first, but when things started to warm up I spotted these chaps. I've had the Nikon for nearly 12 months, and I learn something new, nearly every time I use it. Talk about thick. I have been using entirely the wrong settings. I completed a City & Guilds level 2, and basically any decent image I got was practically a fluke. I couldn't understand how when I checked the settings in properties, there were entirely different from what I wanted. What I did, because of my age related long sightedness, was to use the programme setting, so that the focussing was taken care of. I moved the dial to A, to change the aperture, or to S to set the shutter speed, and then turned the dial back to P. David in Jessops told me that it would just revert to picking what the camera wanted to use. There are none so blind ... etc, etc. Now I am not saying that all future shots will be spot on, that won't happen. However, when I want a shallow depth of field or extended depth of field, or a fast or slower shutter speed, I might get what I desire. I feel so thick. BTW, a lad cutting the grass spotted me withn the tripod, switched the mower off and asked what I was doing. A man after my own heart. He thought I was perhaps shooting(metaphorically) a bird. I was actually wearing an Anorak, so proceeded to act like one, and explained about the little blighters. I did see a wildlife show once, where a Starling attempted to eat one, and promptly get rid of it. He was a very polite young man and thanked me for the information, and went back to mowing the verges.
Adios.
