Impending Storm

Today is the day of supermarket visits, the snow is nearly upon us. Its due overnight tonight to start and we really need to make sure we have enough food for the next few days. Also a day of soup making, just what we will need on a cold wet evening.

It got me thinking................

How did people, in times long ago, know that they had to prepare for an event like this. We now have the luxury of the Metservice that can give us predictions for a week or more in advance. Without that we would probably be sitting with little food in the fridge and no way of getting any in the next few days.
