Busy day (again)

Raided the house again this morning for more useful things (you know, like deodorant *sigh* and the laptop so I am now connected and able to get my internet fix again!!).

Builders are stopping until Monday due to the delay caused by needing new specifications for the removal of the chimney breast and installation of steelwork into the party wall that hopefully Building Control will be happy with this time. At least our Party Wall agreement has been sorted out today so that's ok. No floor in the kitchen still though. And no water in the house either. Hey ho. Hope nobody needs a wee on Sunday when Steve and the carpenter are in there working...

Swimming after the house raiding, that was fun! Ben must have spent well over an hour with barely pausing for breath swimming and paddling and going down the slide over and over and over and over.

Did mean that by 3 o'clock he was seriously grumpy and not being a great little playmate for the kids. Took him a while to give in and go to sleep but there was no way I was having Mr Grumpy to look after for a second day on the run. Sadly this meant missing out on going to play with another friend, and when he woke up still very tired I decided that we needed a night off. Our hosts have suddenly had to go out for the evening anyway so now it's just me and Ben in the house - Steve's gone out to a smallgroup meeting with some of his birthday cake.

Don't think we've got anything planned for tomorrow so hopefully we can have a fairly non-rushing-around day for a change. I am shattered!!

Ben had a good moment this morning. I left him with our hosts while I went off to the house. I left him with no nappy on, but with his pyjama pants back on. Came home to find he'd taken himself off to the potty by himself! His pants were a bit wet but not very much, the toilet floor was a big puddle, but there was still a massive wee in the potty!! I think he must've been quite absorbed in playing and forgotten that I'd told him that pyjama pants wouldn't hold a wee like a nappy and that he should go to the potty if he needed a wee, and when the first dribble came out he suddenly remembered and legged it to the potty. And of course when you're desperate and not quite 3 years old and only just getting the hang of these things I suppose it's easy to not quite get the necessary bits quite inside the potty....

As much as I've been saying that I was quite happy for him to still be in nappies when the new baby comes along, I'm beginning to think that if he's doing this well already and it's mainly his prompting, he's got three and a half months to really "get" it and hopefully when baby arrives he won't regress - and hopefully he'll have got the hang of pulling pants down and up and also getting his willy pointing down inside the potty. Maybe. Possibly. Hopefully.
