On the mend

Three weeks ago today, my elder brother was rushed to hospital, where he was diagnosed with double pneumonia. The first few days were extremely worrying, but he got over the worst of it and was released from hospital a few days ago. He is still far from recovered and will need a lot more rest, but he was able to pose for this photo today with his younger daughter who came to visit (the elder daughter and her little girl were the subject of yesterday's blip!).

A day of greetings and partings today.

We went to the Metro Centre, where we met up with a friend- now also a blipper - who has just moved back to the north east; something I'm VERY happy about :)

Said goodbye today to Cheesey, a cheeseplant I took home to look after for a colleague during the summer holidays in 1998 and never returned because he grew too big to fit back into the car... Loved that plant but in the end he grew so big we couldn't accommodate him here anymore (particularly given Baggins' appetite for all things green and Grace's recent mobility). Now, thanks to the wonder of Freecycle, Cheesey has found a new home in a brand new conservatory. I never blipped Cheesey, which I kind of regret now. Funny how you grow attached to plants, isn't it? At least I do. And Prince Charles does, apparently.

Hmmmm.
