Desperate stuff

Heard today that the Kiwifruit growers have got clearance to spray antibiotics on their kiwifruit vines between now and flowering. The brief background for those not in the know is that the industry has been hit by a bacteria, PSa which has devastated Italian orchards and is hitting NZ orchards hard since it was first discovered last November. There was a small , very small item in our local, very local, newsletter saying that a local tohunga ki te rongoa (Maori medicine man) has said PSa is the manifestation of all the poisons poured on to the land in the name of increased yield.
"The madness of this method of farming the whenua (land) is the way the kiwifruit industry is solving this PSa problem", he said"By pouring more poisons on to the land".

I say this is just the beginning. The industry is desperate and when you are desperate you can't change the way you think about things , you make use of the biggest hammer you can get your hands on. This is the what the industry knows.

Things have to be destroyed before they can be rebuilt.
