"That All Travelers Here May Remember..."
The Pennsylvania Railroad World War II Memorial by Walker Hancock is a very striking public sculpture that I and most people in these parts have always appreciated. One does not need to be in a patriotic mood to notice the Archangel Michael lifting the fallen soldier out of the flames of war. Some years ago when the station was renovated, the artist's son made an important contribution: he raised concern that the original lighting had been neglected for years, and when this was corrected, the statue's power was enhanced --it was a very clear difference. I was in the station to use the post office and I remembered it; knew it was worth a blip.
