Mercury Bead

There is something so attractive about water beaded on a surface. On leaves it's just very pretty, but I think that when it happens on a jacket, or a pair of waterproof tousers, it just makes me feel really smug because I know I won't get wet!

I've only once seen actual free mercury. Our old school chemistry teacher in 1st year of school decided we definately needed to appreciate surface tension by watching him push a couple of blobs of mercury about. What a legend.
