Joy and Sorrow

After a week's culture, entertaining my lovely father-in-law it's back to running with Bruce over the local tracks and trails - what joy for him and for me, what sadness of saying goodbye to one we care about. And the changes that have taken place in our short absence. The fruit on the blackberry bushes catching the sunshine has already ripened, elderberries, rowan berries glisten and gleam in the hedgerows perfectly formed. Too soon 'though the nights draw in, signalling the waning of the summer sun, but with the promise of Autumn's glow.
