Thomson family grave monument

I showed you the dilapidated railings around this monument a few days ago here. It belongs to the Thomson family and the draped urn at the top is typically Victorian. The drape could apparently be a reference to the veil between earth and the heavens. Whereas the urn was possible the receptable for the soul going to heaven. There were no cremations in those days, those sort of urns didn't arrive till much later. In mainly Victorian cemetaries you can literally see seas of urns most although not all of them, on top of columns like this.
