Todays puzzler...

This is a small mother of pearl covered penknife, carrying a rather strange mnemonic, the question is, does anyone out there on Blip recognise it and what it represents? You have to go back into the past a little...a clue is, it was given to me as a prize in a sales competition many years ago by a nationally known company...that should set you on the right road:)
