Fishing Hut River Lathkill
Tonights fishing on the Lathkill was the most difficult fishing I've ever encountered on the Derbyshire rivers. Very low water, an abundance of riverside fauna and the gin clear nature of this river meant that it was almost impossible to catch.
The fish are easily spooked and you see them scoot up the river or under stone as you try to 'stealthily' get into position to cast to them.
I managed one small brown trout, which I was delighted to get.
I phoned my fishing partner this evening, Simon who is an expert fisherman a world record holder in fact, who was fishing on the lower beat and asked him how he was getting on. I was relieved that he to had found the conditions really hard and had managed just 2 small fish.
Still it's always lovely to fish here with deer coming down to the river in the evening.
This is a picture of one of the 2 fishing huts. They are lovely and are a great place to meet up for lunch or to shelter from a storm.
