Southerly Storm
The threatened southerly storm, straight out of Antarctica, has arrived at last. This is how it struck the mountains. We don't often see this amazing sight with the racing wispy clouds backlit by sunshine. It is usually hidden by low cloud. In large you can see the how the gale is streaming up the flank of Otarama, and over the ridge.
The day started out spring-like. I was awoken before light by the blackbird on his first morning of full-voiced song. Several hours of the morning were calm and sunny. But then the southerly began to pick up. We have had some hail, but no snow as yet.
