In Memory of Senja

Today is the anniversary of the loss of my daughter. Had she survived her premature birth, today would have been her fifth birthday. Senja (pronounced Sen-ya) was named after a beautiful island in Norway.

I've just come back from a trip to Wiltshire to visit her grave, which is in a woodland natural burial site. There's some truth in the old maxim 'time heals' but if you were to cut through the scar I've been left with, you'd still find a gaping hole underneath.

This is Senja's little bear.

Tonight I will light a candle in her memory and in memory of all the other babies and young children who are taken too early from us.

Sometimes there just aren't the words.
