The way I see it.

Fields of Barley

I am surrounded by fields of barley and have never really thought much about them before. But as I sit in my sun porch and watch the movement of the wind rippling through the ripening stalks I am reminded of waves on the sea. Just as birds swoop down and plunder the fish in the ocean I have watched little bands of sparrows swooping down on the barley and disappearing as they presumably eat the grain.

I have come to love casting my eye upon the fields and watching them as they tun into a beautiful golden colour. I will miss it when the combine harvesters descend and leave just stubble behind. But presumably that will bring harvesting opportunities for many more birds as they eat the grain left behind.

Isn't nature wonderful?
