Musings at the Museum

Scarlet and I had promised ourselves a day taking photographs in the Summer holidays. Given the persistence of the weather we headed to the newly re-opened Museum.

The new entrance gives a great Dickensian, Potter-esque feel with its solid stone arches, warm natural woods and soft lighting. The Grand Hall looks less cluttered for sure, but perhaps a bit too minimalist, a bit bare - and the alcoves hold no hidden gems. Infact I felt confused as to where all the exhibits had gone - so much has disappeared. At the top of one escalator there was a make-shift shoplet and nothing else - just a large empty space. Perhaps there are plans to fill it as time goes on?

I enjoyed the earthy quality of this beautiful loom with it's weave of tartan, but I also liked the PlaySchool element to this.

We moved on to lunch and chats and I have returned with the wetest feet I have had in months. I do wish the children would hurry back to school so the sun can come out again.

Edit:- Scarlet has made mention that we may be Jessie's. I need her to know that as she hasn't yet received her birthday presents that is very dangerous talk from one so (well actually, not so) young!
