Wet paint
It was good to be back to the normal Saturday routine and to have a music session to go to after last week's bank holiday interruption. Before making my way to today's meeting I managed to fit in a walk beforehand, which was just as well, since the weather turned really nasty afterwards. I combined the walk with a bit of a shopping trip for household essentials. That's when I stumbled on this sad-looking bench and its sadder warning sign. It was also just as well that I caught this while out walking, because this is the only shot I took today.
There was a bigger than usual turnout at the music session, which meant that we finished later than usual. Undeterred, out host insisted on offering us a glass of wine afterwards, to which we didn't say no. It was only when we said our farewells and I headed homeward that the weather changed dramatically, dumping heavy rain without warning. We'd met in Rathgar, and I'd been pleasantly surprised by the speed at which I got across town. Now, however, things were very different. At first I thought it was because of the rain that the traffic was so much heavier, but by the time I got to the city centre it became obvious that something else was causing the problem.
After crawling along Dorset Street and taking my usual route from there, I was faced with a detour near Croke Park, and had to retrace my steps. Stupidly, neither the city fathers nor the Gardai had thought of warning traffic of the detour in advance of the turn. I was far from alone in being caught out, and had to take all sorts of unusual route changes before I eventually got out of the traffic and got back home.
A lazy evening after that, with music and TV mostly.
