Not too bad

Son #2 takes a view of Lac de Chalain in the Jura.

We've moved on from the Alps but not too far.

We're now at a beautiful spot next to a gorgeous lake but in a massive, though peaceful campsite.

There's a time in your life when the all singing, all dancing campsite comes in handy and two boys aged six and under makes this an easy stay.

The Bear Grylls in me thinks we should be under bivouac up a high mountain but that part of me is happy to switch off if the boys are happy.

Having said that, the following series of exchanges may be of interest:

Don't want to go in the lake

Can we just go and have a look in the shop, not to buy

Dad, we could come back tomorrow and buy something

Can we go in the pool? Mummy said we could go in the pool

Can we go in the play area? Mummy said we could go in the play area

You are so unfair

I didn't want fish for tea...

Are you enjoying yourself, I asked....

Yes, it's great..!

A run around the lake in the morning to see what's about but right now a glass of wine and sitting in the early evening sun, eating Son #2's left overs... Magic..
