The Falls of Foyers
Inverness-shire has a wonderful variety of landscapes and today I got to explore the land to the east of Loch Ness with my son and grandsons. We followed a "C" class road that has got to be the scariest road I have ever been on! It started off as single track then got very rutted with cattle grids and a gate to be opened and closed, but it was the series of single track hairpin bends that the car barely managed to fit round that even got Cailean slightly rattled!
We came out at Inverfarigaig and followed Loch Ness down to Foyers. I had never been to this spot before and after a refreshing cafe stop we went on a squirrel walk through the Scots pine forest. Sutherland was brilliant at finding all the informative red squirrel posts but we never did see the real thing! This didn't matter as the highlight of the walk was viewing the magnificent 165 foot high Falls of Foyer. The wee people on the lower viewing point give you an idea of the scale of it!
A great day out - made all the better because this is what I did while my car was passing it's MOT!
