What is happening to this country?

There is no beautiful composition today. No water, no macro. Not even a brilliant masterpiece of any sort.

These two buildings, were last night rumoured on facebook to have been set ablaze in the riots. Many stories told of other incidents, too close to home to contemplate, turned out to be true but the ones that were very local to us, were not. Scaremongering is rife.

By 1;30pm today, most of the shops at this shopping centre were told to close up and go home. Ambulances and Police already stationed, ready for any trouble that might come. More rumours circulating that groups of youths were gathering together in nearby Welling with riot on their minds.

I am quite frankly sick of hearing the excuses of, social deprivation, the police, fb, twitter, BBM. These are not to blame for these events. The only ones to blame are those who feel the need to burn, steal and create havoc among our communities. This isn't about that shooting any more, I don't even think it was when it was in Tottenham, it's just an excuse for the scum of our country to do exactly what they want. And yet there are some who choose to point the finger at other sources, in effect condoning all of this destruction.

There is NO EXCUSE for this type of behaviour. It's not just the mindless vandalism, looting and violence, it's the total disregard for life. Setting fire to commercial properties, endangering the lives of families that live above in residential properties. Totally unacceptable. Hard working people losing their livelihoods, their business' to a group of people who know nothing of a hard days work, yet they think it's their right to have it all their own way, this country's youth has a lot of growing up to do!

I am totally ashamed. My children are scared, especially the middle one. 11 yrs old but with more compassion than I have ever seen a child, he has so many questions and I can see him trying to get his head around the whys, he can't believe anyone would do this and I feel so sad to have to tell him the real facts of life.

But that's the truth, people are selfish nowadays. Compassion, respect and responsibility are very low down on peoples lists. I can only hope that this will improve.
