As Told By Ginger

Yeah Yeah Yeah Yo Yeah!

Today we woke up and had cereal for breakfast (shocker). We were scheduled for Global Development Village today at 10:00. At GDV, your patrol chooses a theme for the morning and a different one for the afternoon. My patrol's first theme was Health. We had a huge dance party and learned more about HIV and AIDS with Dance4Life. It was a lot of fun dancing and fooling around with everyone. Sebastian, an HIV-positive man, told us his story of how he, a heterosexual 19-year-old German became infected. It was touching and it really helped us to understand what living with HIV is like. After that we had lunch. When we finished eating we were invited to play Portuguese foot tag with a troop from Cyprus. We had a lot of fun and I made a lot of new friends. Our afternoon session was Human Rights. We played a game where we battled for wealth and voted on issues based on our economic situations. Me and Kevin Sexton, The Supreme Overlord, were the only rich citizens. We voted for a fantastic economic plan (developed by me) where Mormons and Swedes received free ice cream on Wednesdays and Fridays and Shane was allowed to own nothing but a pillowcase to wear (that last part was Kevin's idea). Needless to say, it passed. After GDV, me and Conor went to the Jamboree shop to buy souvenirs and then to the Faith and Beliefs Area again. We went back into the Sikh tent to write our names in Punjabi and to try wrapping our heads in turbans. That was really cool. Then we went to the Islamic faith tent and wrote our names in Arabic. We got the religious award for visiting a certain amount of tents but that was only a bonus to what we learned while we were in those tents. Before dinner, Zubair and Aahil from a Pakistani troop came to swap badges and such. Greg really wanted a belt from them but I offered a better deal so I ended up getting it. He was a little upset about that so I went back after dinner to try and get him another one. Our dinner was completely improvised tonight because we went to the market to buy the food and we discovered that there was absolutely no pasta whatsoever in the market and our meal was entirely dependent on it. We ended up having chicken breast sandwiches. After dinner, me and Sean went to the Pakistani campsite with the intention of leaving with a belt. It took us a while to find the site but when we did we were greeted warmly and invited in. They kindly offered us their delicious dinner (the best Pakistani food that I've ever had) and were extremely generous to us. They gave us small badges and gifts and were the most courteous hosts that I've ever encountered. When the time came to trade the belt with Zubair, I traded him one of my troop shirts for it. We were both pleased and I can't even begin to describe how thankful I am of all of them, especially Zubair, Aahil, and Saif. They were so friendly and generous and I hope that I can repay the favor soon. When we got back to camp I talked to Sofia for a while and then packed for Camp in Camp and went to bed. At 1:00 in the morning I woke up to see Matt standing over me. I asked him if he was okay and he said "Move!". I was shocked and confused. I asked him what he meant and he started yelling "SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!!!!!!" I got really worried. Then he said that I had to move because I was on his side of the tent. After I finally convinced him that I was on the right side, he said "Okay, I'm going to go to the bathroom now" and proceeded to walk to the end of the tent without the door and collapse on the floor. What a strange child...
