The Taggies are in flower

Just got to love this time of year when the Tagasaste (tree lucerne or Chamaecytisis palmensis) are in flower. These are heroes of the tree world. Small , unassuming, fast growing, short lived, They feed the bees when there is hardly anything else about. You can often hear them buzzing at this time of year. Planted a row down the boundary about a year ago, the tallest would be 2.5 metres. This is from a transplant the size of a pencil, dug into a paddock , no weed control, no summer watering, no fert, just go for it. They make the perfect nurse plant for hard to grow trees, super quick shelter till your long termers get going, not to mention the horse loves it when she's fed a branch or two.

Love it when the taggies are in flower.
